Where a link earns us a referral fee, we say so on the same page. No link on this site currently earns us a fee.
A referral fee is paid by the host out of its own marketing budget. We do not set, see or change what you are charged.
How this site is meant to make money
By referral fees from hosting companies when a reader signs up after following a link from here. The host pays us out of its own marketing budget. We do not claim the price is identical either way: an affiliate link can carry the host's own promotional code, and a host can change what it offers at any time, so the figure on the host's own checkout page is the one that counts.
The conflict of interest, stated plainly
Hosting affiliate commissions are among the largest in any consumer category, and the hosts that pay the most are not the cheapest. A site funded this way has a standing incentive to push readers toward whichever host pays best, and you should assume every site in this category has that incentive, including this one. It is the single most compromised affiliate niche on the web.
What we do about it is structural rather than a promise: every ordering on this site is by computed total cost over a stated period, ascending, and nothing else. There is no score we could quietly weight. Several hosts we list have no affiliate program we are in at all, and they are ordered by the same rule — some of them sit at the top of their tables. The method page gives the sort key in full.
The second thing we do is publish the renewal price. Renewal prices are the part of hosting that affiliate-funded comparison sites systematically leave out, because the advertised price converts better. Putting it in the first column of every table costs us conversions, which is the point.
How links are labeled
A link that earns us a fee carries rel="sponsored". Every other link on this site is an ordinary link: links to a host's own pricing page and to the sources behind every figure carry no nofollow, because they are citations and we want them followed. A link to a host that pays us nothing is marked Unpaid link next to it.
Placement is not for sale
No host has paid, or can pay, to appear on this site, to be ordered above another host, or to have anything about it removed. We do not sell listings, badges, awards, sponsored posts or “best of” placements.
The sort key that replaces editorial judgment is on the method page, the full dataset including every source URL is at data.json, and the host list shows which hosts we have no affiliate relationship with at all.
